Why come for counselling?
At the forefront of my practice is the knowledge that as humans we are all susceptible and vulnerable to feeling painful emotions. We may not wish to burden loved ones and it can seem easier to avoid, supress, or artificially escape our pain and often traumatic experiences in the hope we can find temporary relief. This strategy tends to leave people feeling isolated, confused and often overwhelmed in their efforts to cope and resolve conflicts. In order to gain insights into the difficulties you may be facing, we have to reflect on our lives and contemplate making changes. Having a non-judgmental, safe space to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, within a therapeutic relationship of trust, warmth and compassion can provide an opportunity to increase self-awareness, healing and growth.
